DIY-U is quite a few things. It is a form of Home Education as the majority, if not all, of the learning and research is undertaken in our homes. The learning from home concept doesn't seem so strange or different at this moment in time. This is due to the Corona virus outbreak. Universities have elected to use online methods in order to teach students with as a result of COVID.

Efficient Home Education.

Here is a segment from the UK Education act 1996:

The parent of every child of compulsory school age shall cause him to receive efficient full-time education.

Home educated students and young people should be provided with learning and opportunities that will enable them to develop and acquire the necessary skills and knowledge needed for life in the 21st century.

The paragraph above is from a site I had found via online research. In regard to the part relating to young people, at DIY-U, young and old alike are welcome to join this educational institution.

I have recently opened a Facebook page and a Facebook group for DIY-U. I believe in the power of social media as a learning platform. I will write more about this topic in future posts.
